Bounce, Baby, Bounce!

Hello Beautifuls!

10 years ago I got my first fitness certification.  Urban Rebounder aka mini trampoline.  Now I know this may incur images of the late 70’s early 80’s with wedgie giving leotards, leg warmers and sweat bands but it really is a GREAT workout!  It’s fun because it takes you back to childhood years jumping on the trampoline and while you get a blast from the past your get to blast your fat at the same time and that’s a win-win situation.

Some other benefits of rebounding (jumping on a mini trampoline) is that it’s low impact, meaning it’s great for your joints so those runners out there who’ve pounded pavement and ruined your knees can do this as an alternative.  Rebounding uses all those lil stabilizer muscles in that the rebounder surface is not stable so all those lil muscles hafta kick in and fire up to keep you from face planting (this also means extra calorie burn).  Any Moms have ‘piddle’ issues after having a wee little one?  Jumping on the rebounder is like kegels on steroids!  Yeah, it helps strengthen those pelvic floor muscles!

Rebounders can be pretty inexpensive so look around, you may even be lucky and find one at a garage sale or your local thrift store.  Just check to make sure the springs are all intact and there’s no tears in the bouncy part.  Set it up in your family room and watch the kids go crazy then allow yourself to go crazy too.  You’ll soon see that just a couple of minutes on one and you’ll be huffin’ and puffin’ real quick.  There’s a lot more you can do than just jumping on them with your feet.  Put your hands on there with feet out in a plank position and try to bounce your hands.  Stick one foot on and one foot back in a lunge and step up and balance on one foot.  Sit on it and lift your feet off the earth and try to just bound on your butt (this one is KILLER for abs).

Have fun, use your imagination, and just TRY to make it a full 20 minutes on that thing and you’ll be amazed!  Let me know what you discover!
